This guide is intended only to assist people playing this excellent game. The game uses an active block system performed by pressing the block button, and a combat system based on the three attack buttons: horizontal attack, vertical attack, and kick. The jump maneuver (which in Soulcalibur is more like a hop) moves the player higher into the air, even allowing it to pass above the opponent (much like in Tekken). The characters can sidestep to either side by double-tapping down to move to the foreground or tapping down then up to the background. Soul Edge was created prior to the introduction of the so-called 8-Way Run, which allows the player to move their character in a complete range on the Y-axis. Game Players magazine voted Soul Blade "Best Game of Show" at AMMO, and NEXT Generation calls Soul Blade "the most complete fighting game to date." Obviously, a cut above. But it looks like the critics already have found it. It's the 15th century and ten warriors from around the world, each wielding their weapon of choice, are in bloody pursuit of Soul Edge - the ultimate weapon. What's next in fighting? How about a game that melds 3D movement, polygon characters, razor sharp graphics, awe-inspiring moves and a one-of-a-kind combat system? Or, in short, Soul Blade - arguably the most innovative fighting game on the planet. Soul Edge is the first installment in the Soul series. The game was a commercial and critical success and was followed up with Soulcalibur in July 1998. The PlayStation version was renamed Soul Blade in North America, Europe, and Australia. Originally released as an arcade game in December 1995, an upgraded and expanded version of the game was ported to the PlayStation in December 1996. Soul Blade or Soul Edge (ソウルエッジ Sōru Edji?) is a fighting game developed by the team Project Soul and published by Namco. Play Soul Blade and master it with this Guide and enjoy new secret caracters
